Monthly Prize Contest — Official Rules

1. Sponsor

The "Monthly Prize Contest" (the "Contest") is sponsored by Cheerful Brands LLC, 671 N Post Oak Ln, Houston, TX 77024 (the "Sponsor"), operator of PuzzlHaus. Contact: hello@puzzlhaus.com. This contest is a skill-based competition and is not a sweepstakes, lottery, or gambling.

2. Eligibility

• Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher).
• Void where prohibited by law, including the following states whose laws restrict skill-based prize contests: Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Maryland, Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Vermont. Residents of these states may play the games and appear on the leaderboard but are not eligible to win cash-value prizes.
• Employees, contractors, immediate family, and household members of the Sponsor are not eligible.
• Accounts must be at least 30 days old at the end of the contest month to win.
• Email address must be verified.
• One entry per person and per household. Multiple accounts will result in disqualification of all involved accounts.

3. Contest Period

The Contest runs on a monthly basis. Each "Contest Month" begins at 00:00 UTC on the 1st calendar day of the month and ends at 23:59:59 UTC on the last calendar day of the month. The contest activates in the first month after 100 registered users (free or paid) have joined the site.

4. How to Enter and How to Win

No purchase or payment of any kind is required to enter or win. Entry is open to any eligible account — free or paid — that plays and solves at least one daily game on the Sponsor's site during the Contest Month. Creating an account is free at puzzlhaus.com. Winners are determined solely by skill (total points scored across the catalogue of games).

Scoring formula: Each game solved during the Contest Month earns 10 base points. Total points across all games (Word Quest, Hangman, Groups, Word Search, Mini Crossword, Trivia, Letter Boxed, Sudoku, Snake, Sky Squadron) are summed for the month. Multi-game bonus: Players who play more than one distinct game stack a bonus multiplier of +10% per additional game type, capped at +100% (i.e., 1.0× at one game, 1.4× at five games, 2.0× at eleven or more). Single-game players still earn full base points. Game milestone bonuses: Each game has four lifetime-solve milestone tiers, each awarding a one-time bonus that is credited to the contest month in which the threshold is crossed. The tiers are: 🏅 100 solves → +50 points, 🥇 250 → +75, 🏆 500 → +125, 👑 1,000 → +250. Milestones stack across games (each tier on each game is independent) and the bonus appears in your monthly total automatically.

No paid-tier advantage. Supporter subscribers and free accounts score points using the identical formula. Payment of any kind does not increase, decrease, or otherwise affect the points earned per solve or the odds of winning. Skill is the sole determining factor.

Winners: The top three (3) accounts ranked by total monthly points are declared winners, subject to the eligibility and minimum-participation requirements below. Ties are broken by (a) the timestamp of the player's first solve in the month (earlier wins), then (b) the number of distinct games played.

5. Minimum Participation Threshold

Prizes are awarded only if at least 100 unique players registered solves during the Contest Month. If fewer than 100 unique players competed, no prizes will be awarded for that month, and no entrants will have any claim on prize funds.

6. Prizes

• 1st place: $100 Amazon.com Gift Card
• 2nd place: $50 Amazon.com Gift Card
• 3rd place: $25 Amazon.com Gift Card

Total approximate retail value of prizes per Contest Month: $175. Prizes are non-transferable, non-substitutable, and non-redeemable for cash. Amazon.com and its affiliates are not sponsors of this Contest and are not associated with it.

7. Winner Notification and Claim

Winners will be notified by email at the address on file for their account no later than the 5th calendar day following the end of the Contest Month. To claim a prize, a winner must complete the on-site claim form within 14 days of notification. The claim form will request:

• Full legal name
• Mailing address (including U.S. state of residence — used to confirm prize eligibility under Section 2)
• Email address to which the Amazon.com Gift Card will be delivered
• Last four digits of Social Security Number (full SSN may be required via secure email if the winner's cumulative annual prize winnings from the Sponsor reach $600)

Failure to respond within 14 days, refusal of prize, residence in an excluded state listed in Section 2, or provision of false information will result in forfeiture and selection of an alternate winner.

8. Taxes

Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes on the prize. If the Sponsor pays $600 or more in total prizes to a single winner during any calendar year, the Sponsor will issue an IRS Form 1099-MISC and may require the winner to submit a completed IRS Form W-9 prior to issuing further prizes.

9. Anti-Fraud and Disqualification

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any account it suspects of:

• Operating multiple accounts (one person, multiple emails)
• Using automated tools, bots, scripts, or any non-human means of submitting solves
• Coordinating with other accounts to manipulate rankings
• Submitting falsified personal information on the claim form
• Violating any other rule, the Sponsor's Terms of Use, or applicable law

The Sponsor may verify the legitimacy of any winning account by reviewing IP addresses, account age, play timestamps, browser fingerprints, and other technical signals before paying any prize. Disqualified accounts forfeit all rights to prizes, and an alternate winner will be selected.

10. Publicity

By accepting a prize, each winner consents to the use of their username (account display name only — not their legal name) on the Sponsor's leaderboard and "Past Winners" page, without further compensation. Legal names and tax information will not be published.

11. General Conditions

The Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest at any time, including for technical failure, force majeure, fraud, or any reason that compromises the integrity of the Contest. In the event of dispute, the Sponsor's decisions are final.

This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States. Any dispute arising from this Contest will be resolved exclusively in courts located within the United States.

12. Privacy

Personal information collected via the claim form is used solely to verify eligibility, deliver prizes, and comply with tax reporting. It is stored encrypted and is not shared with third parties except as required for prize delivery (Amazon.com) and tax reporting (Internal Revenue Service).
